Today we're talking about a house that seduces everyone with its charm and wraps them around its finger: the Nude House
. You might be wondering why this name. The goal was to create a house made of natural building materials in which you can see the purity of these materials—both in colour and texture! We're now showing you the result and we can reveal this much: it's amazing!
The house is located on a plot that is only 6.5 m wide but 27.5 m long. The unusual layout of the plot became a construction challenge for the professional landscape architect. But the construction was a success and so it is not only the size of the house, but also the mix that is so different here: contemporary Mexican architecture paired with functionality and special details such as shiny raw materials and rustic textures.
The issues of lighting and ventilation were also a focus during construction, as a barrier had to be created that would provide natural thermal insulation and also provide space for a chimney through which the air could flow. A construction that required a great deal of skill and planning!
The house is divided into three floors: On the first floor, there is access to the terrace, a bathroom, the dining room, a kitchen as the central focus of the house and the living room. Connected with the terrace is a backyard, a garden and a pool.
On the second floor, there is a studio or guest room for visitors and on the third floor there is the master bedroom and a small courtyard.
It isn't easy to describe this building correctly in its entirety, so we will just let pictures speak for themselves to show you the beauty and special architecture of this house!
The wonderful facade of the house is very charming. Here, a lot of emphasis was placed on the climate—through passive elements! The illuminated blocks in the walls and the glass wall provide brightness. The glass wall is also responsible for the light in the building and provides a view of the beautiful outdoor area. There is also the option of closing the glass wall with folding doors, thus regulating the airflow and also acting as sun protection.
Since the main facade of the house faces west, it was necessary to prevent the house from heating up inside. For this reason, a courtyard with a sand garden and ornamental vegetation was created as a visual boundary, which also serves as a transition area. The side corridor on the north side provides the cool air flow and thus keeps the house cooler overall.
This picture shows the overall concept of the house: the linear design of the interior, the high side walls and the modular elements that can be found in every corner.
The natural material is also the colour concept, which is reflected in the various natural shades of grey (from completely white to shiny polished concrete) through to wood and black metal. The contrast of cold and warm, light and dark, and hardness and shine is what makes the design so special.
The kitchen, an open space barely 5.5 m wide, was designed with an L-shaped interior. As the centre of the house, the kitchen has a modern yet elegant look.
The studio is also specially designed and impresses with its remarkable details. Firstly, there is the double height of the room and the thin, wrought-iron railing, which breaks up the rigid design. Visitors and friends feel right at home here in the studio, as a private bathroom, comfortable furniture and the unique, impressive view from above are real highlights. It is also easy to chat with the host and friends from there!
On the third level, the room used as a bedroom is bright and spacious. The walls and ceilings are polished, but the wooden floor and certain elements such as the bench at the end of the bed or the bedside tables still give the room that cosy and warm charm. Many wooden elements have been recycled from old doors, giving a friendly character that neutralizes the coldness of the concrete.
The room also has a small courtyard between the bathroom and the sleeping area, which serves as lighting and ventilation. The terrace is bordered horizontally by a wall of blocks so that the gaps are designed in the same design as the wall. A few chairs, the table and the pots give the room a cool and inspiring charm.
The house therefore not only impresses with its versatile design and many surprises but also with elegance, natural, beautiful colours, style and the fascination that this house simply radiates.
